In 2023, the Margashirsha Laxmi Puja begins on December 15, Thursday. The other Thursdays are on December 22, December 29, January 4 and January 11
Margashirsha Laxmi puja is performed to gain Happiness, peace, and wealth. The Mahalaxmi Puja is celebrated for four Thursdays of the Margashirsha month as per the traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra. Margashirsha Laxmi Puja fast is observed from sunrise to sunset. The devotee should wear yellow color attires.
How to Perform Margashirsha Laxmi Puja?
1)For puja, it is necessary to keep the place clean, where puja is performed. Devotees should take bath early and wear neat clothes.
2)Take a Kalash (pot) full of water and beautify it with betel and mango leaves. Put coconut on the top of the Kalash and put Haldi-kumkum over it. Put the Kalash on a plate with rice grains.
3)Offer flowers or a garland on the coconut and 5 leaves of different flowers must be offered.
4)Shri Mahalakshmi Aarti and Mahalakshmi Naman Ashtak are chanted on the day. Mahalakshmi Puja is performed in the evening on the day. Devotees chant the Mahalakshmi Vrat Katha and Mahalakshmi Mahatmya.
5)In the prasad, there could be some sweets or 5 fruits.
7)On the last Thursday, Those observing the Margashirsh Lakshmi puja invite Eight young Girls or Women , and Each girl or Woman is believed to be a form of Goddess Lakshmi. Kheer(Sweet Rice Pudding), Fruits, Haldi Kumkum, and a book containing the "MahaLakshmi Vrat Katha" are offered to them.
